Nirmohi Akhara, the main litigant in Ayodhya title suits, today said it would construct a grand Ram temple and would approach the Supreme Court for claiming the entire disputed land.

"Ram temple will be constructed at Ayodhya by the Nyas belonging to the Nirmohi Akhara as Ram Lala belongs to it," Mahant Bhaskar Das of the Akhara told reporters in Ayodhya.

The Akhara would approach the apex court for laying claim over the entire land, he said adding the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas of the VHP had no locus standi to construct the temple.

Mahant was reacting to the decision of the Uchadhikar Samiti, a body of VHP and religious leaders, that the temple would be constructed by Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas.

He claimed Akhara's Nyas was the authorised body to construct the Ram temple.

The Mahant said Muslims were being asked to give up their claim on the land as a mosque at the site would keep the dispute alive forever.

To a question, the Mahant said he had always maintained a distance from the VHP.
