A 40-year-old man and his girlfriend in her twenties were assaulted late on Thursday night by a group of unidentified men.
The Ahmedabad rural police witnessed one of their most unusual cases on Friday. A day after spotting a 20 years old girl with tatters for clothes and injury marks on her body, they found a man in his forties, an MBBS by profession, lying naked and unconscious in a farm, off the SP Ring Road.
The two were mauled by a group of unidentified men late on Thursday night and left to fend for themselves by the merciless trio. According to Bopal police, they first spotted the girl on the road behind Sindhu Bhavan in Thaltej area at around 11 pm. She was moving haphazardly with blood dripping off her forehead and other parts of the body. Her clothes were tattered and barely managed to cover her.
"We gave her a bed-sheet from our patrol vehicle. She narrated her ordeal but refused to lodge a complaint. Her father came and took her away," cops from Bopal police station said.
Police said that the girl was roaming about with her 40-year-old 'friend' earlier on Thursday and were caught in a compromising position in the area when three people appeared. The men got hold of the couple and dragged them behind some bushes in the interiors of the deserted area.
"They thrashed both of them severely with wooden sticks. After around half-an-hour the girl found she was alone in the bushes and crawled towards the road when the patrol squad of Bopal police spotted her," cops said. However, the area falls under Sarkhej police and the girl was handed over to them eventually.
According to Sarkhej police inspector, BR Patel the girl and her father refused to lodge a complaint and just left. On the other hand, the Sarkhej police, on the look out for the girl's 'friend', found a man lying unconscious in a farm off SP Ring Road early on Friday morning.
The man was found severely injured and disrobed. According to the police, the man belongs to the Muslim community who is married and has kids. He has been admitted to VS hospital. The girl who is in her twenties is said to be in love but the relationship was not acceptable by her family.
"The man is a doctor and still unconscious at a hospital. His relatives didn't allow the police we had sent to record his statement. We are yet to conclude the intention behind the incident but as of now it seems motive was loot," said RK Patel, DySP, Ahmedabad rural.
