NID prof to teach the art of ‘writing’

In this computer age, a National Institute of Design (NID) professor is all set to teach lessons of calligraphy to students. So, at the annual festival, DFrost of NID in Bangalore, starting next month, faculty from NID, Ahmedabad will spell out to students the skills of writing.

Prof Taru Deep Girdher will hold a workshop on typography and calligraphy that will focus on modeling letter forms based on an understanding of various characteristics of living beings.  Prof Girdher would explain tactics of handmade tools for calligraphy.
The move is aimed at promoting handwritten things in the age of computerisation.

Dfrost is the annual
design festival hosted by NID R&D campus, Bangalore. The festival offers an opportunity to foster the understanding of design and its relevance in today's world, says the festival's announcement note. Dfrost offers fun to students amidst their hectic lifestyle, creativity and awareness with an intention to nurture the impact of design on society and people.

It also provides platform for students from different disciplines to showcase their potential and interact with professionals from diverse backgrounds.
