New Zealand apologises for foul-mouthed TV host

New Zealand has apologised for the 'culturally insensitive, inappropriate remarks' made by a TV anchor ridiculing Delhi's chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

The Indian foreign office today summoned Auckland's high commissioner who is believed to have profusely apologised for the incident.

The anchor, Paul Henry, who had earlier made a racial slur against the Indian-origin governor-general of New Zealand, Sir Anand Satyanand, for which he was already suspended, deliberately twisted Dikshit's name to make fun of her.

Upset over this, external affairs minister SM Krishna today directed the ministry to convey India's unhappiness over the conduct of the anchor to high commissioner Rupert Holborow.
