New stops for luxury buses in Ahmedabad

Construction work being carried out on Satellite Road for the BRTS lane between Jodhpur crossroads and Iskcon Temple is not only causing problems for commuters but is making life difficult for bus operators. The narrowing down of the main road has led some travel operators to change bus stops.  

The narrow road, ongoing construction work and increased traffic during peak hours on Satellite Road leave less space for the huge luxury buses to park on the road or move in the mixed traffic.

Talking to DNA, a member of Patel Travels said, "We have changed the pick-up points and now we pick passengers from SG Highway on the road adjacent to Wide Angle. Till now, our starting point was at Jodhpur crossroads but it was becoming difficult for us to park the buses on the roadside, which would also block the narrow route for others."  

When contacted, the Dy MC Utpal Padia said, "There is no delay in the work of constructing the BRTS lane. The deadline for completing the entire stretch from Shivranjani to Ambli is May 31, 2012. So, hopefully the work will be completed by then."
