The NDA will contest the coming assembly polls in Bihar on the plank of development and would form the next government with thumping majority as measures to the end initiated by chief minister Nitish Kumar would take precedence over caste politics, deputy chief minister and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today claimed.

''The caste factor being played by opposition parties like RJD-LJP combine and Congress will be relegated to the background for the first time in Bihar and the polls will witness people rising above narrow caste considerations who will elect their representatives on the basis of development,'' Modi told a press conference here.

The trend was discernible during the Lok Sabha polls last year when NDA secured 32 out of the 40 parliamentary seats in the state, he said.

Modi took a potshot at RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP president Ramvilas Paswan for not taking lessons from the past and claimed that they would be relegated to the background after the coming assembly elections as they still believed that caste factor would play a pivotal role this time.

''I must say that the two leaders were living in fools paradise as development has taken over the caste agenda pursued by them and people will vote to rid the state of jungle raj of the erstwhile RJD government to bring the state back on rails,'' Modi said.

He said, there should be model code of conduct for news reporters too and he would talk to the Election commission in
this regard.

He asked partymen not hesitate to write to the EC or to editors of newspapers, news agencies and electronic media if they found that a particular reporter was sending biased reports against the NDA.

The press conference was also addressed by state BJP president C P Thakur, national vice-president Kiran Ghai and Harendra Kumar, MLC.
