The list of NCP candidates for contesting the six-phase assembly elections in Bihar would be declared phase wise, party national general sectretary Tariq Anwar today said.

The first list would be declared two days ahead of filing nomnation papers for the first phase of elections, Anwar said.

The filing of nomination papers for 47 assembly seats lying in north Bihar districts would commence from September 27 and end on October 4,2010 and the last date for withdrwal of nominations had been fixed for October 7.

Anwar said earlier the NCP used to contest assembly elections in Bihar in alliance with like-minded parties and used to get seven to eight seats under seat sharing arrangement.

But this time the party had decided to go alone and would be contesting majority of 243 assembly seats in Bihar and the thrust of the party would be on 'minority dominated'  areas as the minorities particularly the Muslims as well as people from backward castes were looking towards the NCP to make their presence felt in Bihar, he said.

The party before giving party nominations would consider winnablity factor of the contesting candidate, Anwar said.

Referring to EC's decision to keep tabs on even small expenditures of the contesting candidates such as tea and ' paan'  (betel), Anwar said that EC should not take such harsh decisions as it might deter people of lower middle class from contesting the elections.

The contesting candidates would find a way out and might put the expenses under electioneering expenses account of the party, Anwar said and hoped that the EC would consider the petitions of the parties in this regard.
