NCP leader shot dead in Imphal

NCP leader Chung Sei Haokip was shot dead by unidentified gunmen here tonight.

NCP's state vice-president Haokip, 60, died on the spot when he was attacked while having tea with a friend at a roadside hotel in New Secon area, police said.

His friend Haokai Suthing, 63, was also injured in the firing.

The motive behind the crime is not yet known.

Haokip had unsuccessfully contested the last assembly elections from Teng Nou Pal constituency in Chandel district as an RJD candidate before switching over to NCP.
