Naxal leader Usendi's aide arrested in Chhattisgarh

A close aide of naxal leader and spokesperson Gudsa Usendi has been arrested from Durg district in Chhattisgarh, police said today.

Radheshyam Giri, residing in city's Laakhenagar area, was held yesterday from Pulgaon police limits with some naxal material and literature, Durg superintendent of police Amit Kumar said.

Giri, who was living in a rented flat here since last three years, posing as a salesman and a social worker assisted Maoists and has been extending required help to them in the city by providing them basic amenities to carry out their operations here, police said.

He served as a communicator in the naxal link by handing over letters to operatives besides helping them out with weapons, finances and medical aid in case of injuries, Kumar said.

Giri is an aide of naxal spokesperson Gudsa Usendi and got associated with the Maoist ideology a few years ago after completing his higher secondary education, the SP said.

He was associated with the Jal Mukti Morcha for a while, the police official said.

Giri's arrest will help police to break into the naxal intelligence network in urban areas of Chhattisgarh, Kumar said adding he is being quizzed for further information.
