The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is all set to implement a new module exclusively for Gujarat. The module will aim to increase the number of students from the state enrolling for the NCC.

The module also plans to cover parents  to motivate them to send their children to the NCC.

During his visit to Gujarat on Friday, director general of the NCC, lieutenant general RK Karwal addressed the press and announced the new module. Currently, there are around 52,000 cadets in NCC from Gujarat, while the numbers in some other states like Andhra Pradesh is over a lakh.

"We want to increase the total number of cadets at the national level from 13 lakh to 15 lakh, and want Gujarat to motivate students to participate in a big way," he said. However, the exact details of the module are yet to be finalised.

"Gujarat still lacks when it comes to training in the NCC, and there may be several reasons for this," Karwal said.

Karwal was on a two-day tour to Gujarat and oversaw NCC activities being conducted in the state.
