Fearing his arrest by the SIT in connection with the post Godhra riots, former junior home minister Gordhan Zadaphia has written a letter to the Supreme Court appointed SIT and has revealed his association with chief minister Narendra Modi and the ruling party BJP. However, SIT has not confirmed any such letter, though sources close to the development revealed the details of the letter.

The letter clearly indicates that Zadaphia was not involved in any decision made during the Godhra and post Godhra riots and he was discarded from the controversial meeting held on February 27, 2002.

Zadaphia in his letter to SIT has raised many questions, especially in connection with his relationship with chief minister Narendra Modi and how he was sidelined during his tenure as the junior home minister, when the Godhra and post Godhra riots were raging.

Zadaphia in his letter has also mentioned how his senior ministers IK Jadeja and Ashok Bhatt usurped his powers and were deployed in the police control room. In his letter to SIT, Zadaphia has also said that during his tenure as junior home minister, he was sidelined by the chief minister Narendra Modi and was not informed or invited to any meeting held after the Sabarmati train carnage. Zadaphia has also written in the letter that he was not included in the highly controversial meeting allegedly held on February 27, 2002.

Citing the example of retired IPS officer, RB Sreekumar, who was harassed for speaking about it, Zadaphia in his letter had allegedly mentioned that no one present at the meeting will ever dare to say anything about it.

Zadaphia in his letter to SIT has also reportedly mentioned that a police inspector from the State Intelligence Bureau was included in his convoy, during his tenure as the junior home minister. The letter also says that this IB officer was told to keep a tab on the activities of Zadaphia, which were allegedly against chief minister Narendra Modi.
