Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the situation emerging after heavy rains across the state in the past few days and directed the district officials to take measures to prevent outbreak of any kind of epidemic.

Modi asked officials at a meeting held today to work on war footing to drain out water from low lying areas of the city and those districts experiencing heavy downpour and to monitor the water level in Ukai and Narmada dam.

Modi directed to offer quick assistance to families who lost their loved ones due to heavy rains.

He also asked the officials to set up a mechanism where public can be informed about water logging and traffic situation through FM radio.

Urban development and water resource minister Nitin Patel, health minister Jaynarayan Vyas, chief secretary AK Joti and other senior officials of the state attended the meeting.

Rains lashed many parts of the state over the last few days and districts of Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbander and Ahmedabad bore the brunt of the rain fury.
