The prayers of the people who had wished for the speedy recovery of chief minister Narendra Modi seem to have been answered. The team of doctors attending on Modi since he tested positive for swine flu, declared on Saturday evening that the chief minister is now out of danger and well on the way to recovery. The doctors, however, added that the chief minister will be kept in complete isolation for a few more days.

On Saturday, Modi received a call from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who had phoned to ask about his health. Singh wished the CM good health and a speedy recovery.
The doctors examined the chief minister twice on Saturday - once in the morning and then again in the evening. Dr Atul Patel, an expert in infectious diseases who is attending on Modi, said that an exhaustive medical examination of the CM was done at Apollo Hospital on Friday evening.

Based on the reports of that examination, the doctors had come to the conclusion that there had been considerable improvement in the chief minister’s health.  On Saturday morning, too, the doctors’ team conducted a detailed health check-up of the CM. Dr Patel said that Modi had slept well on Friday night and that he was kept on liquid diet and fruits. His fever has come down, his appetite has improved and there was consider relief in cold and cough symptoms, Dr Patel said.

In Saturday’s evening bulletin about the CM’s health, Dr Patel stated that there had been great improvement in the chief minister’s health in the last 48 hours.

“The body’s natural capacity to fight diseases had facilitated the CM’s early recovery,” he said. “A team of medical experts had declared him out of danger after examining him on all health parameters. But the CM will continue to be under medical treatment for some more time and he will stay in quarantine. He will be under medical supervision for a few more days at his residence.’’

Sources close to Modi said the CM had received flowers and ‘get well soon’ messages from his well-wishers in India and abroad throughout the day.
