Shuttling from Gandhinagar to south Gujarat to Saurashtra throughout the day, 'Good Friday' was a 'busy day' for chief minister Narendra Modi as he attended various inauguration functions.

Modi first inaugurated the solar powered building — 'Paryavaran Bhavan' of Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) — in Gandhinagar on Friday morning.

CM said that Gujarat has shown the light to the nation in green technology, adding that, 'pollution-free' society is better option for protecting the new generation rather than 'pollution control'.
Modi then reached Ankleshwar to inaugurate a chemical plant where he 'alerted' people against a smear campaign to malign Gujarat and a conspiracy to shift industries from the state to Maharashtra. Inaugurating the Rs1,000-crore P-Cresol Chemicals Manufacturing Plant at Ankleshwar, he said it is not just a part of political agenda to belittle Gujarat's industrial march but also a move to spoil the name of the state. He asked people to be alert against such lies.

Soon after the inauguration, the CM travelled to Surat to felicitate 221 village chiefs of samras village panchayats of seven districts of south Gujarat. These panchayats were presented with cash awards worth Rs5.56 crore.

In a function held at International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Surat to congratulate the sarpanchs and villagers, the CM said that there are many works which if undertaken, will change the face of the villages. It requires leadership more than money.

From the diamond city, Modi headed to Rajkot to participate in the inauguration of 'Kisan Heet Yatra'. BJP Gujarat president RC Faldu began the yatra on Friday evening.
