Chief minister Narendra Modi may be holding Sadbhavna Mission fasts to promote goodwill in society but his ministers and BJP leaders are using these occasions to heap praise on their leader and even project him as God!
Modi observed a Sadbhavna fast (his 10th if the three-day event in Ahmedabad is included in the count) on Tuesday in Ahwa, the district headquarters town of Dangs. Many leaders were present at the fast function held at Ahwa. Modi spoke last but before that it was the turn of state BJP leaders and ministers to speak.
Not one to miss an opportunity to glorify their leader, state BJP leaders and ministers continued to shout hosannas to Modi. While one said he was like Lord Rama who had brought a smile to Sabri’s face, another leader claimed that the state had been getting enough rain only because Modi was in power in Gandhinagar.
Sonu Ahire, president of Ahwa taluka panchayat termed Modi a ‘saint’ who had come to Dangs to light up the lives of the people. He said that Modi’s arrival in Dangs had brought new hope to the people.
Bharatsinh Parmar, BJP member of the Rajya Sabha, said Modi was Lord Rama who had come to Dangs to destroy evil. He claimed that just as Lord Rama had brought a smile to Sabri’s face, Modi’s visit will bring smiles to the faces of the people of Dangs. He also termed Modi as a batsman who had remained unbeaten despite many tough googlies thrown at him by Congress leaders.
State forest and environment minister Mangu Patel perhaps went too far when he said that Gujarat had been getting good rains just because Modi was in power in Gandhinagar.
“The state has not witnessed drought or inadequate rainfall in the last ten years. This is because the state has got a strong leader like chief minister Narendra Modi,” Patel said.
