Till now the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's Sadbhavana fast didn't have much of an agenda except 'development' with the tagline 'Sauno Saath - Sauno Vikas'. But from January 5 onwards it has got other sticking point --- criticizing the UPA government over the proposed provision of minority quota in OBC reservation bill. After protesting against the bill at his Sadbhavana fast in Mansa on January 5, the CM continued to talk about it at the fast in Amreli the next day.

Modi expressed anxiety about the future course of the country and said that the central government is paralyzed by vote-bank politics and development works are coming to a standstill. He said it is steeped in corruption and inflation.

Rounding up the day's Sadbhavana fast at Amreli as part of his state-wide 'Sadbhavna Mission', he said that while Gujarat is progressing at a very fast rate, the centre threatens to push the opposition leaders into jail. The CM announced 2,200 new development works worth Rs.1,111-crore for Amreli district. He also announced allocation of Rs.300-crore Balapur irrigation project and Santli dam project.

Pointing to the proposed 4.25 % reservation for minorities in OBC quota, the CM said the people at the helm of affairs should shun the decades old vote-bank politics and take a cue from Gujarat's Sadbhavana Mission and adopt development politics through for peace, unity and brotherhood.

About 24,000 people assembled from all the 11 talukas of Amreli to join Modi in his daylong fast.
