Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced development works worth Rs200 crore for Tapi district. This development came after Modi concluded his day-long Sadbhavna fast in Songadh.

The chief minister announced that projects will include irrigation canal from Ukai dam to Poorna River, 32 lift irrigation projects, roads through forest areas, and converting Ukai reservoir into a tourist spot.

Modi, at the fast, reiterated his resolve that Gujarat's development will serve as strength for India's development through the Sadbhavna Mission. Gujarat has achieved all round development over the past due to communal harmony, unity and peace, he said.

He also lashed out at the Congress for destroying the country using its divisive policies. He said that power-hungry politicians were sowing poison of hatred, bickering, casteism and inter-state rivalry in the society to divide the nation. He alleged that such elements continued to get the support of previous and present Congress-led governments at the Centre.

Modi also spoke about various achievements of the state government such as opening medical and engineering colleges, creating employment and better health facilities among others.
The Congress, which has dubbed Modi's fast as a political stunt, also held a parallel fast in Songadh.

“Modi is least concerned about the common man and this is what we want to convey to the citizens by holding a parallel fast,” said Tushar Chaudhary, union minister of state for road transport & highways. He is Congress MP from Bardoli.
