After witnessing an all time low sales numbers in November, Tata Motors’ Nano is back in business. Easy finance schemes and growing customer confidence have lead to better sales numbers in the December.

According to the statement released by Tata Motors, Nano sales stood at 5,784 units, higher by 60% over December last year. Tata Motors saw the lowest sales of the world’s cheapest car in November 2010 at 509 units.

A Pune-based dealer said the company’s finance scheme asked for the lowest down payment and the least number of documents.

“This generated a lot of interest with consumers. Also, the two-wheeler scheme [which allows people to exchange their two-wheelers for a Nano] was a big hit. And the new TV commercial of Tata Nano that was released in December lead to better consumer confidence,” he said.

The company provides finance for up to 90% of Nano and at low interest rates. The Tatas are also in talks with other financiers to make the loan procedure easy.

Tata Motors had announced various schemes in order attract costumers and improve the declining sales of the Nano. It is now offering a warranty for 4 years or 60,000 km to all its new and existing customers, and an option to avail of a maintenance contract at Rs99 per month.

A Tata Motors spokesperson said the company was in the process of setting up a strong infrastructure for Nano. “This includes sales, marketing and finance. Our easy finance schemes are getting a good response,” he added.

The company has also opened sales outlets in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, thus covering 12 states.
