Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio today welcomed the return of peace in the state and called upon the people to protect it so that the process of peace building was further consolidated.
     
Speaking at the Tokhu Emong festival cum state road show here, Rio said joyous celebrations of different festivals were possible because of the prevailing peace. The chief minister extended thanks for it to the consistent efforts from tribal hohos (councils), civil societies and churches.

He said the underground groups also realized the futility of violence and decided not to fight among themselves, resulting in peace in the state.

The chief minister called for proper documentation of various facets of Naga life so that it could help promote cultural and eco tourism in Nagaland.
     
Rio also announced that the scope of the coming annual hornbill festival in the first week of December would be enlarged by inviting all states of the North-East.

With an aim to build an interface between the rural people and various activities of departments, Nagaland government has undertaken road shows in all districts coinciding traditional festivals of each Naga tribe.
     
Tokhu Emong, a post-harvest festival of Lotha community, is celebrated in the first week of November.
