Congress MLA Brajendra Singh Rathore, who is one of the accused in the murder of former BJP minister Sunil Nayak, today took oath as the member of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly after securing an anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court.

Rathore arrived in the Assembly along with leader of opposition, Jamuna Devi and took oath as the member of the State Assembly.

Nayak, who was the BJP candidate from the Prithvipur Assembly constituency, was shot dead on the day of polling for the Assembly polls in November 2008 near Prithvipur town in Tikamgarh district.

Rathore, who was contesting from the same seat, had emerged victorious.

Later, a case was registered against 11 persons including Rathore and eight other members of his family. One of his brother identified as Yashpal Singh Rathore was arrested.

Since then Brajendra Singh was absconding and after securing anticipatory bail from the Apex Court, he finally took oath today.

Addressing the media persons later, Rathore said he was far away from the spot where Nayak was shot dead and was fabricated in the matter by the government.

"If a fair probe by any agency takes place in the matter, everything would become crystal clear," he said.
