An engineering student and his driver were detained Saturday for allegedly trying to forcibly enter the home of Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Jharkhand.

"The youth - Gourav - was detained after the security personnel of Harmu Housing Colony where Dhoni lives informed the police that a youth and the driver of his car were demanding to meet Dhoni though he is now touring Australia," Ranjit Prasad, Superintendent of Police, Ranchi said.

On being told about Dhoni's stay in Australia, they demanded the cricketer's contact number and wanted to speak to him, the security personnel told the police.

Gourav is a student of an engineering college at Simoga in Karnataka. He came home to Ranchi during Christmas and wanted to enter Dhoni's home, the police said.

"They were detained and interrogated. Both the youths were let off after it was found that they were fans of Dhoni and wanted to meet him," Prasad said.
