More rains expected in Ahmedabad in the next 24 hrs

Ahmedabad, like the rest of the state, received widespread rains on Saturday. With 95 per cent humidity in the air, the city received this season's highest rainfall - 63.2 mm, within the last 24 hours. Thanks to the rains, the temperature in the city also dipped substantially to reach 31.6°C.

The seasonal total rainfall in the city reached 337.7 mm on Saturday, which is 20.8 mm more than the average. With this, about 14 sub-stations in the state including Dwarka, Okha, Rajkot, Naliya, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Ahmedabad and Vadodara, out of the total 20, have received more than the usual rainfall.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)'s Gujarat forecast notes that moderate to heavy rains will occur at most places in the state. While the forecast for Saurashtra and Diu reads as 'heavy to extremely heavy rainfall' over the next 24 hours, that for Ahmedabad notes that heavy spells will occur during the next 24 hours.  

A rainfall of 14 cm was recorded in Silvassa, 13 cm each in Madhuban and Umargaon, 12 cm in Vapi, 10 in Daman, 8 each in Nanipalsan and Unjha, 7 in Dharampur and 5 cm each in Dhanera and Prantij. In Saurashtra and Kutch, Kalyanpur received 12 cm rain, Kutiyana received 11, Jamnagar and Abdasa got 8 and 6 respectively.
