If the Mumbai meteorological department is anything to go by, Gujarat will have to wait till June 28 for its first spell of rain, leaving citizens to be drenched in perspiration because of the humidity for at least 10 days.

The meteorological department in Mumbai has said that if Mumbai does not experience rainfall by June 19, it will have to wait till June 25 for the first spell of rain. Meanwhile, there is no possibility of rain in Mumbai before June 25. It has been observed that the onset of monsoon in Gujarat is a few days after it reaches Mumbai.

In such a situation, there is no hope for rain in Gujarat before June 28 or 29. Interestingly, when the meteorological department had said that the monsoon will arrive around June 15, a monsoon panchang developed by Anand Agricultural University had said that the onset was to be expected only by June 29.

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad is already experiencing pre-monsoon activities, with thundershowers and thunderclouds developing in the city.

On Thursday evening, the city experienced a drizzle with heavy winds and lightning in the sky.

The meteorological department has predicted pre-monsoon activities for the next 24 hours too.

The weather forecast predicts cloudy skies and chances of thunderstorm activities towards Saturday evening or night. On Friday, Ahmedabad registered a maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius and minimum of 25.3 degree Celsius. The temperature on Saturday is expected to go up to 41 degree Celsius.
Rain and thundershowers have been predicted for isolated places in all districts of Gujarat as well as Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
