At least eight people were injured after two groups of a community embroiled in a brawl on Tuesday night. The clash is said to have originated after a girl was molested by a young man of a rival group. However, the other group alleged the clash is fallout of an ancestral rivalry.

Both the rival groups arrived at the police station at 1 am on Wednesday to lodge cross complaints, in which they booked one another while stating two different reasons behind the brawl.

Sub inspector with Vastrapur police, RS Damor, who is investigating the case said that both the groups cited different reasons behind the clash. He said that the groups had already lodged two-three FIRs in similar cases in past.

Jugaji Thakore, who lodged the first FIR, alleged that the clash was a result of an old ancestral rivalry when accused Arjun Thakore along with three others assaulted him and three others on Wednesday.

On the contrary, in his cross complaint Arjun Thakore alleged that Jugaji's relative Shankarsinh molested his girl during the garba on Tuesday, which led to the brawl.
