Model arrested for killing IT professional

A 26-year-old model was arrested for allegedly murdering a young woman IT professional in the city, police said today.

Himanshu was arrested on charges of killing Veerpal Kaur Gill (24), a Project Manager in an IT company, in her rented accommodation in south-east Delhi's Kalkaji in the last week of July.

Gill, hailing from Punjab's Moga district, was not seen in public since July 28. Her body was found by her landlord Manoharlal Gupta two days later. She was staying alone.

A senior police official claimed Himanshu was a distant cousin of the victim and used to allegedly demand money from her and when she refused, he murdered her.

"He used to demand money from her. He also used to take her mobile phone and laptop for personal use. Last time when she refused, he got furious and murdered her," the official claimed.

The official said they got a tip off about Himanshu from one of Gill's close friends.
