Say the police; a team of cops has returned from Rajasthan with evidence.
A team of the Naroda police that had left for Rajasthan in search of a 16-year-old girl who had gone missing from the area has apparently returned with 'lots of evidence'. The team is hopeful that the evidence will help in tracing the girl. Sources in the police department said that the team has brought mobile phone records of Chunaram, a resident of Devdi village, who allegedly abducted the girl.
Police inspector of Naroda police station, BM Vasava said, "The team has
come back. We will be getting the girl back in a short time. Our investigations are on in the matter."
Sources close to the development said that the team had quizzed parents of Chunaram about the girl but they claimed they had not seen her. Vasava said that Chunaram had left his village after Diwali but his whereabouts were not known.
According to a complaint filed by the mother of the girl, Madhuben Pankhania, her daughter had ventured out of home on October 9 to deliver cloth samples but failed to return. Madhuben makes a living by stitching clothes. Upon enquiry it was found that the girl had made a call from a local PCO in the area and had informed somebody that she would be coming to the Kalupur railway station.
The number on which the girl spoke was later revealed to be that of one Ramkaran Chaudhary, a resident of Surat. Following repeated enquiries, Chaudhary said that his friend Chunaram, a resident of Devdi village in Rajasthan used to frequently talk to the girl.
The complaint alleges that Chunaram had abducted the girl on some pretext. Incidentally, the family of the girl also received a ransom call regarding their daughter. Residents of the area had also taken out a rally protesting crimes against women. The rally ended at the Naroda police station.
