Sudhendhu Singh, the 14-year-old who went missing on Monday evening, was finally traced to Pune after over 19 hours. The teenager was found by railway police officers on Tuesday after he called up one of his family's old drivers from the railway station there.

According to Sudhendhu's uncle, Nishant Singh, "Sudhendhu called one of our old drivers who is in Jharkhand. This driver then called us and informed us about the number from which Sudhendhu had called him. We immediately gave Ghatlodia police the number and they traced it to Pune railway station.

"The cops then sent a picture of Sudhendhu through MMS to Pune railway officers who found him and have now kept him with them. Soon, someone from the family will reach there to bring him back. However, we still don't know how he reached there as he does not seem to be in a position to talk," he added.

A class IX student of St Kabir School, Naranpura, Sudhendhu had been missing since Monday evening when he reportedly went to his tuition class. "At around 3.30 pm, he got ready and told me that he was off to his coaching class. He was dropped at the class by his regular auto-rickshaw driver at Sarjan Tower, Gurukul, at around 4.15 pm," said Shambhunath Singh, Sudhendhu's father who added that he didn't suspect the rickshaw driver of any wrongdoing.

However, his tuition teacher Reena Singh claims she never saw him in class that day. "My class begins at 4.45 pm. I did not see Sudhendhu in class and assumed he was absent since it was raining heavily on Monday. There were some other students also who were absent owing to the rains and hence it never occurred to me that he must have gone missing," she said.

According to his school's headmistress, Rashmi Trivedi, Sudhendhu was a sincere student and teachers never had any complaints against him. "In fact, he was often chosen as a member of the student council body and also as a prefect for the class. We were disturbed with news of him going missing," Trivedi said.
