Miscreants fire at police officer in Assam; injure him critically

A police officer was critically injured when unidentified miscreants fired at him near the Kaziranga National Park in Assam's Karbi Anglong district today, police said.

Assistant sub-inspector, Prafulla Bora was fired upon when he moving by a motorcyle at Mandubi Beygaon under Santipur police station bordering Bagori range of Kaziranga National Park.

He fell off the motorcycle and was seriously injured.

Bora has been admitted to Golaghat Civil Hospital.

Police suspected that either militants or poachers could be involved in the firing, sources added.
