A woman in Sarangpur was in for the shock of her life when she found a youth allegedly in a compromising position with her daughter, a minor. Reprimanding him for the act, the woman asked him to leave immediately. Little was she to know that he would forcibly take her daughter with him. The agitated mother immediately informed her husband Rakesh Patel, a rickshaw driver, who filed a complaint of abduction and rape against the accused in the Khadia police station. Officials at the police station said that the accused, Satyaprakash Yadav, brought the girl back on the night of the incident itself.
Officials say that Yadav was actually engaged to the girl, after the two fell in love a month back. Sources said that Yadav, a resident of Odhav, used to frequent the victim's house, as he used to help his father, a labour contractor, in building Rakesh Patel's house. Eventually, the girl's parents thought of getting the two engaged.
However, the girl's parents later broke off the engagement after objections rose about the alleged misconduct of the boy.
On June 18, Yadav entered the Patels' house and allegedly raped the minor girl, after which, he was discovered by the girl's mother. Even as she was reprimanding him, he took her off to an undisclosed location on a two-wheeler. The girl returned home late at night, and the next day, her father filed a complaint with the Khadia police.
Khadia police station officials said that Yadav was arrested and has been sent to judicial custody by the court. Head constable Hasmukh Mangabhai told DNA, "The two, the accused and the victim, have stated that they did have sexual intercourse. The victim is a minor girl, and we have hence booked the accused for rape."
