Minor fire breaks out at closed terminal of Delhi's IGI airport

A minor fire broke out at the old departure terminal building (T1B) of the IGI airport this evening during its demolition.

Terminal 1B, which has been closed since April this year, was being demolished and some heavy iron structures were being removed with the help of a wielding machine.

"During this, some waste paper and other trash, which were lying in the terminal building, caught fire," a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official said. The fire was immediately doused and no one was injured.

The flight operations were not affected as the terminal is not being used, he said.
