The minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today, a day after the region was lashed by heavy rains.
 
Amritsar in Punjab recorded a minimum of 15.1 degrees Celsius, three below normal, the meteorological department said here.
 
Ludhiana, which received 21 mm of rain till this morning, recorded a low of 15.3 deg C, down five degrees, while Patiala, which had 3 mm of rain, registered a low of 15.6 deg C, down three notches.
 
Among other places in Punjab which were lashed by rains yesterday included Madhopur (29 mm), Shahpur Kandi (23 mm), Dasuya (48 mm), Mukerian (34 mm), Ropar (25 mm), Anandpur Sahib (27 mm), Balachaur (19 mm), Derabassi (21 mm) and Mohali (9 mm).
 
Chandigarh, which was lashed by heavy rain and hailstorm yesterday, recorded a low of 16.7 deg C, down four degrees.
 
The city had a partially cloudy sky today and had received 11.2 mm of rain till 8.30am, the Met said.
 
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 15.3 deg C, down four degrees, while the low at Karnal was 16.2 deg C, two below normal.
 
The minimum temperature at Hisar settled at 17 deg C, down six degrees.
 
Yesterday, the higher reaches of Kashmir and Manali in Himachal Pradesh received the first snowfall of the season.
 
Various places in Punjab were yesterday lashed by hailstorm and heavy rains raising concern of damage to standing paddy crops.
 
More rains are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the next few hours, MeT said.
