Militants attack Border Security Force, 2 dead

Militants attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) party with a grenade leaving two persons including a civilan and soldier dead near Bus Stand Baramulla on Thursday.  

The incident occurred when BSF men were busy shopping in the Jehlum Market at Baramulla this afternoon. .

SP Baramulla Haseeb Mughal said a BSF party had gone for shopping when thewy were attacked with a grenade in which two people died and two others were injured.

The slain include  24 year old salesman Abdul Ghani Gojri and U. Halder of 9th battalion BSF. While civilian died on the spot and the BSF succumbed to his injuries at 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar. Two other injured are being treated in different hospital

Expressing deep shock and sorrow over the killing of Abdul Gani Gujri, MLA Langate Sheikh Abdul Rashed demanded thorough probe into the incident. He said the incident is shrouded in mystery because the police and people have made different claims about the incident.

MLA Langate said people claim that there was no militant attack and that civilian was killed by the security personnel by the grenade that got exploded in the hands of BSF Jawan.

Meanwhile during digging a drain at village Bugroo, Budgam locals recovered a live grenade which was handed over to the police. The grenade was destroyed by bomb disposal squad without causing any loss of life or damage.
