Militant killed in military operation in Kashmir

A militant was killed on Saturday in a major ongoing military operation in Rajwar forests of north Kashmir's Handwara district.

"One militant has been killed in Rajwar forest early today. The operation is still in progress," Army spokesman Lt Col JS Brar said.

He said the identity and the group association of the militant have not been established yet.

The spokesman said Army launched a major search operation in the Rajwar forest, over 100 kms from here, five days ago and has been combing the area for any militant presence.

There has been reportedly an increase in infiltration attempts by militants from across the Line of Control over the past two weeks.

As many as eight infiltration bid have been foiled since July 27.
