Militant killed in encounter in Kupwara

The gun battle broke out in Rajwar forest in Kupwara district of north Kashmir last night when militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party of army.

A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said today.

The gun battle broke out in Rajwar forest, 90km from here, last night when militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party of army, the spokesperson said.

He said one militant, who is yet to be identified, was killed in the operation, which was going on when reports last came in.
