Militant killed in encounter in Kashmir

A militant was killed and a security jawan injured in a gunbattle in Sopore town of North Kashmir this morning, official sources said.

The fire fight between the militants and security forces took place in a house at Bagi-Islam Krankshivan locality of Sopore, 55 kms from here, when militants opened fire on the joint party of police, 22 Rashtriya rifles and 17 CRPF battalion this morning, the sources said.

In the ensuing encounter, a militant was killed and a security jawan injured.
    
The gunbattle was still going on in the area when last reports came in.
