Militant killed in a gunbattle in Kashmir

Army troops today scuttled an infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district by killing an unidentified militant, an army spokesman said.
    
"We have foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector and killed an unidentified militant," army spokesman Lt Col JS Brar said.
    
Army troops posted at the LoC noticed some movement of militants trying to sneak into the Indian side from across the border, he said.
    
The militants were challenged and asked to surrender by the forces but they opened fire triggering a gunbattle in the area, about 160 km from here, he said.
    
The gunfight was still continuing when reports last came in.
