Mercury remains below normal in Delhi

There was some chill in the air this morning in New Delhi as the mercury remained below normal level.

The low was recorded at 8.2 degree Celsius, a degree below normal for this time of the year but higher than yesterday's 6.5 degrees.

The maximum temperature yesterday was recorded at 22.4 degree Celsius, which is normal at this time of the season.

There was fog in the early hours which gave way to a bright sun.

The weatherman has predicted shallow fog in the morning and partly cloudy sky later in the day tomorrow while the temperature will be between 8 and 22 degree Celsius.

According to MeT statistics, the record for the highest maximum for the month of January was 32.5 degree Celsius recorded on the 28th of 2004. The record minimum is -0.6 degree Celsius recorded on 16th of the month in 1935.

In the last decade, only last year the minimum did not drop below five degree Celsius. In 2006, the minimum dropped to 0.2 degrees on January eight.
