Media Tuesday came under attack from MPs in Lok Sabha with NCP member Supriya Sule and National Conference MP Sharifuddin Shariq alleging it was not playing the proper role.

Participating in a debate on the Lokpal Bill, Sule said time has come for the MPs "to deliver and make a difference; prove it to the country, to the media and to all the NGOs."

Blaming a TV channel for saying that "all the 800 MPs had disillusioned this country", she asked whether it has gone to her constituency and asked each voter that, "yes, have I disillusioned them in these two and half years? "

"So, I do not like these general comments," she said.

"I do not want to be run like this. It gives me a lot of pain when every channel and every newspaper in this country today looks at me as if I am some sort of a culprit. I am not," she said.

"Sixteen lakh people have voted each one of us here. We are rightfully here. I think, the time has come for us to deliver and make a difference; prove it to the country, to the media and to all the NGOs," Sule said.

She also said she did not have the guts to talk against the media.

"The other day, I was on a channel. I think, Gurudas ji always talks very freely against the media and I do not think I have the guts that he has," she said.

Shariq said media should not cross its limit while covering events and programmes. He also said the media should do factual reporting only as this is the fourth pillar of the Parliamentary democracy.
