ShareUdaipur: A medical student allegedly stabbed a classmate to death and later committed suicide by jumping from three storeyed building here, police said today.
Jaiprakash Bhaskar, a second-year student of MBBS at RNT medical college stabbed his classmate Kamla Kumari yesterday after allegedly being spurned by her, other classmates of the two claimed.
"Bhaskar called Kamla out from a college class. He then whipped out a knife and stabbed her in the throat," police and college officials alleged.
Thereafter, Bhaskar committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the boys hostel, they added.
Both of them were rushed to a hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, they said.
"The college administration has filed an FIR," principal SK Kaushik said, adding the reason behind the incident is being ascertained.
Police has registered the FIR under section 302 (murder)/309 (attempt to suicide) of the IPC, Bhagwati Lal Tripathi, station in-charge, Hathipole police station said.
The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the families after post-mortem.
