When Ujwal Shah, an MBA student, took out the car that he stole for a spin, he did not think that the cops would be waiting to nab him.

Shah stole an expensive Honda Civic from the Gujarat university area just for the fun of it. What's more, he also changed the number plate of the car within one hour after he stole it.

Shah got into trouble when he was driving the car. As soon as he parked the vehicle, a squad of DCP Zone-1 approached him. When questioned about the registration papers of the car, he started fumbling. The police comprising PSI AM Patel, Vasant Patel and other members realised that the car he was driving had been stolen. Upon further interrogation, he revealed that he had stolen the car.

A police official said, "When he was apprehended, he started making excuses. He said that he was taking a test drive in the car after a man handed him the keys. He said that he was going to buy the car and so he was driving it. We did not buy this theory and we started to question him again. He then confessed that he had stolen the car."

Incidentally, Shah did not use duplicate keys or any other mechanism to drive the car. In fact, Shah stole the car when the driver of the car stepped out, sources said. A complaint was registered by the driver of the car, Badalji Thakore in the Gujarat university police station. The Zone-1 squad nabbed Shah on Friday night.

Thakore is a resident of Sola. Sources said that the Honda Civic belongs to one Mitesh.

Shah changed the number plates in such a way that it would not give anybody grounds of suspicion. An official said, "It's noteworthy that he belongs to a well-to-do family and does not have any financial problem." Sources said that it seemed that Shah wanted to show off before his girlfriend for which he stole the car.
