He is the son of BJP leader Chandu Sadhu and if police sources are to be believed a spoilt brat too. In fact sources said he sponsored the many trips to hookah bars and restaurants for his friends and hence they remained loyal to him.
The police, during their course of investigation, found that Mahendra blew away money on his friends every day. "Hardik, who is accused of helping Mahendra kill Priyanka, was probably carried away because Mahendra had done him several favours," a police source said. The police had recorded the statement of several of his friends. However, statements of two of his friends, Dhumil and Sanket, will be recorded by the police again.
Police sources said that ignorant of the crime that Mahendra had committed, Dhumil called him late in the evening on October 21.
"While talking to him Dhumil realised that Mahendra was panting and asked him the reason for the same. Mahendra told him to ignore it," a police source said. He said Dhumil made the call after Mahendra was on his way back after throwing the body of Priyanka in a canal. On the same day when Sanket, another friend of Mahendra, called him the latter told him that he was in Bavla.
Mahendra also sent an SMS to his friend Kunal. In the message he asked Kunal to ask his (Mahendra's) girlfriend not to call him for some days. District superintendent of police, Sandip Singh, said that the police were able to find the missing bag after interrogating Mahendra. Police found that after killing Priyanka, the two threw her bag near a railway track.
