Sandip Singh, DSP of rural police said that Priyanka was killed by her fiancé Mahendra Sadhu, son of Chandu Sadhu.
Police have cracked the murder of MBA student Priyanka Ramanuj and have arrested her fiancé in this connection. A friend of her fiancé has also been arrested.
Sandip Singh, DSP of rural police said that Priyanka was killed by her fiancé Mahendra Sadhu, son of Chandu Sadhu. "Mahendra killed her with the help of his friend Hardik because he wanted to marry some one else. She was killed at Drive-in cinema and later her body was thrown in a canal near Gota circle," said Singh.
Priyanka and Mahendra's fathers were fast friends and had got their children engaged. Singh said Mahendra could not refuse to marry Priyanka and so he killed her to escape the marriage.
"Thus he would be free to marry the girl whom he loved since class 11," he said. But Priyanka was keen on the relation as an earlier engagement of her had been broken. Cops said Mahendra's friends told them of his love interest. Sub inspector MJ Patel, who first began investigating the case, said they suspected Mahendra from day one.
But when they found a message for Mahendra in the Facebook account of the other girl, they were convinced that he was in love with some one else. Cops picked him up on Thursday night and during interrogation he told them the truth. According to cops, on October 21, when Priyanka got down from the bus to reach her home in Chandlodia, Mahendra asked her to come with him as he had a surprise for her.
"Priyanka got into a car and was offered a drink laced with sleeping pills. They then came to Drive-In Cinema to watch the movie Knock Out and even brought three tickets for the same," Singh said.
He said this is where Mahendra first tried to gag her with a cushion he had bought from a mall. "He then strangulated her with his hands," Singh said. Singh said it is not yet clear how Priyanka died.
Primary post mortem reports have said that the girl died due to drowning. He said that after Priyanka became unconscious the two thought she died and so dumped her in the canal. Singh said cops have recovered the cushion that was used to kill Priyanka and her cellphone and other things.
