Maoists trigger blasts in Orissa, train services affected

Maoists triggered two blasts between Birsa and Bongomunda stations near Rourkela in the wee hours today, disrupting train services on the Mumbai-Howrah route.

A goods train passing the area derailed after the two successive blasts, railway officials said.

Train services in the down line were badly disrupted while trains in the Mumbai-Howrah route were suspended due to the blast, they said.

According to preliminary reports, there were no causalities in the incident.

Maoists have called for a 48-hour bandh ending today in seven states, including Orissa, to protest 'Operation Green Hunt' launched against them.
