Maoists kill another villager in Orissa

The bullet ridden body of the victim was found on the Kalimela-Moutu road, about 80km from Malkangiri, this morning. The victim was yet to be identified.

Maoists killed a man in Orissa's Malkangiri district suspecting him to be a police informer, police said today.

The bullet ridden body of the victim was found on the Kalimela-Moutu road, about 80km from Malkangiri, this morning. The victim was yet to be identified, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Asish Kumar said.

"The body was found near MV-82 area under Motu police station area," the SDPO said adding that the literature recovered from near the body cautioned that the police informers would face similar fate.

Denying that police had any informer, the SDPO said that additional police force was sent to Motu area for combing operation.

The literature found near the body also asked the state government to immediately stop the proposed anti-maoist special operation.

This was the second killing of civilians by Maoists within one week. The ultras opened fire on a special police officer and a villager two days ago.

This apart, the Maoists during their two-day bandh endihg tuesday, also set fire on Essar plant at Chitrakonda area in the district.

Patrolling has been intensified and combing operation launched in the area, the police said.
