Armed Maoists today kidnapped a local leader of the ruling JD(U) from Beninagar in Bihar's Naxal-hit Gaya district.

Armed Maoists today kidnapped a local leader of the ruling JD(U) from Beninagar in Bihar's Naxal-hit Gaya district.

Lakhan Ram Verma, also close associate of assembly speaker UN Choudhary, was followed and overpowered by the Maoists at an isolated place and taken away into the forest, the police said.

Raids were being carried out in the area to rescue Verma, the police added.
