Maoists blow up mobile phone tower in Orissa

The ultras disappeared into the nearby forest raising slogans against the police and administration after their swift attack, police said.

Armed Maoists blew up a mobile phone tower in Orissa'a Koraput district early today, police said.

Over 20 heavily armed ultras, including women cadre, stormed into Budara village, about 50 km from here in the wee hours and attacked the mobile tower of a private network, they said.

The maoists triggered an explosion to blow up the tower after driving the lone security guard away, police said. 

A couple of banners and posters were put up by the ultras in the area.

The ultras disappeared into the nearby forest raising slogans against the police and administration after their swift attack, they said.

Additional force was rushed to the area after the incident and combing operation launched to track the Maoists, besides steps to intensify patrolling.
