Maoist leader willing to come to negotiating table:Ravishankar

Bangalore: Maoist leaders at Lalgarh in West Bengal are willing to come to the negotiating table if the government agrees to accede to their demands, Sri Sri Ravishankar, founder of Art of Living Foundation,said. "The Maoists in Lalgarh have a few basic demands for water, electricity,local language medium schools, compensation for deaths in the ongoing violence and cases against them to be withdrawn", a release, quoting the leader, said here on Saturday.

"As many as 118 Maoists are willing to come to the negotiating table if the government can agree to these terms", the release said. The spiritual leader, the release said, had a talk with Maoist leader Chakradhar Mahato yesterday and persuaded the group to lay down their arms. The Art of Living founder has conveyed the willingness of Maoists (to come to the negotiating table) to Union home minister P Chidambaram and West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi, it said.
