Manager kidnapped in Gujarat, escapes

The man escaped from clutches of his alleged abductors through the gallery door of apartment.

On Thursday, in a dramatic chain of events, a sales manager was first abducted by five men for a ransom of Rs10 lakh near Rajpath club. He escaped in spectacular fashion - by jumping off the gallery of the first floor of the apartment where we was been held.
Later he filed a complaint with Vastrapur police, who have started the search for the five men who kidnapped him.

Himmat Shah, 33, resident of Lav-Kush tower in Thaltej alleged that five men in a Scorpio car accosted him on an open road opposite Rajpath Club. Shah works as regional sales manager with Reliance Life Sciences. He came to SG Highway on his bike at 3:30 pm on Thursday after finishing his work.

When Shah reached a coffee bar opposite the club, one of the men blindfolded him while the others tied his hands and dragged him into the car. Shah says he was taken to Flat No 3 in Manipur-Alliance Apartment in Ghuma, where he came to know that five men had abducted him. After thrashing him they told him to call up his relatives and made a demand for Rs10 lakh ransom.

When he refused to give into their demands, he was beaten again. When the alert Shah saw an opportunity to escape - an open door of the gallery - he punched one of the kidnappers, dashed to the gallery and shouted for help. Shah then jumped from the gallery of the first floor and broke his leg in the process.

When local residents started gathering at the spot, the abductors made a quick exit in their car, which had a Rajasthan registration number. Shah was rushed to an orthopedic hospital in an ambulance by the locals, who also informed the police about the incident.
