Man escapes from police custody in Uttar Pradesh

A man arrested on charges of carrying explosives escaped from police custody while being taken to the court lock-up, a senior police officer said here today.

Dhirendra, who was arrested for carrying crude bombs, fled while being taken to the court lock-up after he was produced before the chief judicial magistrate, they said.

A case had been lodged against police personnel Ram Singh and a homeguard, who were escorting Dhirendra and they have been placed under suspension, superintendent of police Kripashanker Singh said.
