Man dies of suspected swine flu in Vadodara

Health officials do a medical check-up of students of a school in Surat after a student was tested +ve for H1N1.

A 62-year-old man died of suspected swine flu in Vadodara on Wednesday. According to information, Chimanbhai Solanki, 62, died within half hour after he was admitted to SSG hospital with symptoms of swine flu.

Solanki, a resident of Hathikhana at Fatehpura was a GSRTC bus conductor. He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday noon, and his samples were taken for investigations. However, he died before the actual treatment started.

Meanwhile, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) health officials did a medical check-up of students at a school in Surat on Wednesday, after one of the students was tested positive for swine flu. All students were checked by team of doctors, but no student was found to have symptoms of the deadly virus.

The medical camp for testing H1N1 virus among students was organised at Karmveer Sakarchand Kalidas Patel Vidyalay at Bhatar on Wednesday. All 700 students studying in the school, especially those complaining of cough, cold and fever were examined by the doctors. However, doctors confirmed that no student was found with symptoms of swine flu.

Sources said that Jignesh Solanki, a class XII student was detected of swine flu. Though he was provided timely treatment by his family members, tensed school authorities informed SMC and NCH officials.

School principal Rajni Patel had requested MK Wadhel, superintendent of New Civil Hospital to conduct a check-up of students. "After Solanki was tested positive, we made special arrangements in the school. Parents of other students were anxious after Solanki was tested positive for H1N1," Rajni Patel said.
